_MG_9088-2About a month ago, I had the pleasure of doing fresh head shots for a lovely realtor in the area! Lorie was awesome, and she was really happy with the finished product. Before we had even parted ways after that session, she asked for me to come by her home to photograph her new puppies in a couple weeks.

Of course, I was over the moon! I mean, who doesn’t love puppies? And man alive! They were adorable! It was a very new experience for me – I can’t say I’ve ever done a puppy photo shoot, especially indoors. For those of you who don’t know, shooting indoors and shooting outdoors are VERY different kettles of fish. I have done indoor photography before, but not too often in such low light, and with such active subjedcts. However, once I settled down, the puppies got used to me, and Finn, who tagged along, was munching on a cookie, the shots started turning out really well.

I am SO happy with the way they turned out. I could not BELIEVE how all 6 (yep, count ’em – SIX) puppies looked identical. I am not kidding – there really are six different puppies here! Lorie and her husband have been breeding and raising purebred Labrador Retrievers for over two decades, and they were just as astounded as I was at how similar each dog was in appearance.

_MG_1838-2One of my favourite moments from the session was, however, when Momma Dog came upstairs to investigate what was going on, and to come sniff Finn and myself, and ALL of the puppies went barreling towards her and started nursing. That poor gal – she couldn’t walk without tripping over her pups. I had to laugh as well as sympathize – kids these days!

All that to say, what a fun experience! Lorie was, as always, very accommodating, and the puppies were just so much fun. And Finn, of course, LOVED it.
